Organisational Strategies
Hello again,
As for today, I
am going to share with all the readers about organisational strategies. Stay
tuned!
What is Organisational Strategies
Organisational strategies
allow us to organise all the random information into specific category so that
it will be easier to us to learn and recall. Listing, ordering, outlining,
mapping and charting are some examples of task that use organisational
strategies.
To make you more
clearly understand about this, I included an activity from page 107 of my text
book and wanted to show you how organisational strategies work basically.
Activity 4.7 : page 107
Things I can remember from method 1
Newspaper, Pencil, Bus, Automobile, Pen, Comic book, Crayon, Train
Things I can remember from method 2
Things you read with :- Newspaper, magazine, book, comic book
Things you write with :- Pencil, pen, chalk, crayon
Things you ride with :- Bus, automobile, train, boat
From the activity I show you above, we can see very
clearly that grouping the material by their function makes memorizing and
listing them easier.
From my opinion after doing the grouping method I
could feel that the pressure to remember 12 items in 60 seconds was lighter
than memorising them without grouping. If you do not trust me, you can try too.
Organise
Material By Grouping
Actually we can improve our skills of learning and
recalling a large amount of information by grouping it. But, we still need to
follow some basic steps in order to make it effective.
1. Never set up more than 7 groups / categories
·
It
can make remembering information become hard
·
Also,
limit the item in each group to seven
2. Be sure to use a simple system or plan
·
We
will not be able to memorise extremely complex information
3. We cannot learn the information by just looking at it.
·
Write
/ recite the lists of information repeatedly and loudly
·
Test
our memory after that.
4. Practice the item in the different order.
·
We
can avoid forgetting or not memorising the middle of the list
I guess that is all from me for today. Thank you so
much for reading and spending time here with me. Goodbye!
